WASHINGTON, D.C. - After completing a 6-5 season that saw the Cardinals earn a spot in the New England Bowl Series, the Catholic University football program is ready to release its 2023 schedule.
Transitioning from the NEWMAC for the first season of Landmark Conference football brings many changes to the 2023 schedule for Mike Gutelius and his staff. The Landmark Conference welcomed Wilkes and Lycoming into the fold, giving the conference the six programs necessary to be eligible for NCAA automatic qualification, before adding Keystone as an associate member to round out a seven-team football conference.
The Cardinals will continue their scheduled series with Centennial Conference foe, McDaniel College, opening the season at Cardinal Stadium on Friday, September 1. Catholic will go on the road for its next two non-conference matchups, making the return trip to 2022 NCAA Tournament team, Randolph-Macon, before adding SUNY Morrisville to the schedule for a road contest on September 16. The Cardinals return home to host another non-conference foe in Alfred on September 23.
The first Landmark Conference football game for Catholic will occur on September 30 at Susquehanna, last year's Centennial Conference champion. Catholic will host Moravian and Lycoming on October 7 and October 14 before an October 21 bye week.
The Cardinals will hit the road for two of the final three weeks of the season, traveling to Keystone and Wilkes before returning home for the regular-season finale at Cardinal Stadium against Juniata on November 11.
All game times are TBD at this point in time.
