Catholic Finishes Regular Season Against Western Connecticut

DANBURY, Conn.  – The Catholic football team wrapped up the season on Saturday afternoon with a road trip to take on Western Connecticut. The Wolves had a very successful day through the air against the Cardinals, throwing for over 360 yards en route to a 52-19 victory.

After a pick six for the Wolves pushed their first half lead out to 24-0, the Cardinals put together a quick touchdown drive, going 46 yards in five plays to go into the half with a little momentum. Kevin Barton entered the game at quarterback and fired back-to-back completions to Cade Chrebet for a first down to get the drive rolling. Three plays later, Barton connected with Nole Henry down the left sideline for a 35 yard touchdown strike to get Catholic on the board.

Catholic put together two touchdown drives in the fourth quarter, scoring on two of their last three drives. Barton completed five passes on the first touchdown drive and found Chrebet in the endzone for his second touchdown pass of the game.

James Campione set up the second fourth quarter touchdown drive by picking off Matthew Xiques at the Wolves 25 yard line to set the Cardinals up in great field position. Barton completed a pass to Nicholas Chang for 15 yards on a third down conversion and then he found Andrew Tabor in the endzone for his third touchdown pass of the game. The Cardinals finished the season with a 3-7 record with the loss.

Barton threw his first three passing touchdowns in his career while finishing with 127 yards through the air. Tabor led the team in both receptions and yards with seven and 77 in those respective statistics. Tabor caught his sixth touchdown pass of the season to finish with the team lead. Henry and Chrebet each hauled in their third touchdown catch of the season.

William Cavallaro led the team in tackles with seven and also forced a fumble and came up with the recovery. Evan Chromy, Nico Ritacca, Michael Hopkins and Eric Islami all finished with five tackles.
