Box Score WASHINGTON – Though it was a cool evening at Cardinal Stadium, The Catholic University of America men's lacrosse team saw its offense heat up after a slow start in its season opener on Wednesday night against Marymount. Junior Tim Keith led the charge with six goals and two assists as the CUA offense fired off 46 shots in a 13-8 win over the Saints.
Marymount jumped out to a 3-0 lead after the first quarter but the Cardinals stormed back, outscoring the Saints 5-1 in the second. Three of those goals came from the stick of Keith, who was everywhere for head coach Brooks Singer.
CUA continued to press at the start of the second half, building a 9-5 lead after 45 minutes of play.
Sophomore transfer from Army West Point, Bennett Bradley, scored his first career goal to put Catholic up four. Bradley finished his Cardinal debut with two goals, an assist and three ground balls.
Keith added two more goals in the final period to help ice the win for the reigning Landmark Conference Champions.
All-Landmark forward Victor Licata also joined Keith and Bradley as multiple-goal scorers as six different Cardinals found the back of the cage.
2015 conference tournament MVP Harrison Holak looked strong in between the pipes for CUA, making 10 stops while picked up a team-high eight ground balls. Catholic held a strong gound ball advantage in the game, 35-20.
The Cardinals continue a two-game homestand to open the year on Saturday, when they host Randolph-Macon at 1 p.m.
