CHERRY HILL, N.J. — The Catholic University women's rowing team closed out its trip to the Knecht Cup with a strong showing on Sunday morning, with all three boats performing well.
After qualifying through the open final on Saturday, the Cardinal freshman/novice four rowed to a third-place finish in the petite final.
Catholic's boat rowed 8:52.79 to come across the line 18 seconds behind the University of the Rhode Island Rowing Club, who took home the win. The Cardinals were three seconds slower than Monmouth but beat the likes of Lafayette, Connecticut and New Hampshire to the line.
The Cardinal varsity eight rowed well in the DIII final, picking up another third-place finish. After racing in a heat race yesterday, Catholic's boat went 7:56.14 to finish behind Stockton and Bryn Mawr's top boats but in front of Franklin & Marshall as well as Stockton 'B' and Bryn Mawr 'B.'
Katie O'Driscoll's varsity four competed in a DIII final only race this morning, grabbing fourth. The Cardinals crossed the line in 9:05.38, coming in ahead of Bryn Mawr and Stockton. Gordon won the final with an impressive time of 8:25.00
The Cardinals will now turn their attention to the Skidmore Invitational next Saturday in Saratoga Springs, N.Y.
