Both Cardinal Squads Defeat the Seahawks at St. Mary's Dual

ST. MARY'S CITY, Md. – The Catholic women's rowing team traveled to St. Mary's City, Md. to compete against St. Mary's College in a dual race. The Cardinals took the top spot in both races while battling strong headwinds at The James P. Muldoon River Center and The Teddy Turner Waterfront.

In the Varsity Eights, Sadie Mattaliano served as the coxswain. Adelaide Murrey sat as the stroke with Ellie Tynan in the bow. Other members of the boat were Claudia Hindley (7), Anne Mountcastle (6), Charlotte Fritz (5), Katherine Elizabeth Ma (4), Madelyn Smith (3), and Bridget Robben (2). 

In the dual V8 race, the Catholic boat outpaced the St. Mary's squad. The Cardinals posted a final time of 7:27.40, while the Seahawks logged a finish of 7:33.23.

In the Varsity Fours, Maely Gomez sat as the coxswain. Maeve Donnelly served as the stroke with Marelyn Diaz in the bow. Madelyn Bronson (3) and Samantha Flynn (2) were the other two members in the boat. 

In the V4 event, the Cardinals competed against two different Seahawks crews. The Catholic boat took gold, recording a time of 9:20.17. The St. Mary's College A boat finished in 9:37.34, while the B boat finished just behind with 9:38.45.

Up next, the Cardinals will continue their strong spring run at the Knecht Cup on April 11th and 12th. The regatta will take place in Pennsauken, NJ at the Camden County Boathouse.
