WILMINGTON, Del. – The Catholic women's rowing team has been ranked as the No. 13 team in the Week 3 Poll from the Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association, it was announced today.
The Cardinals had an impressive start to their season, taking the top spot in both the Varsity 8 and Varsity 4 races at the Washington College Invitational.
In the V8 race, Sadie Mattaliano served as the coxswain with
Adelaide Murrey as the stroke and
Ellie Tynan in the bow. Other members of the boat were
Claudia Hindley (7),
Anne Mountcastle (6),
Charlotte Fritz (5),
Katherine Elizabeth Ma (4),
Madelyn Smith (3), and
Bridget Robben (2). The Cardinals defeated Jefferson, a Division II crew, with a time of 7:02.35.
In the V4, Maely Gomez was the coxswain for the Cardinals. Giada Mirjah sat as the stroke with Marelyn Diaz in the bow. Madelyn Bronson (3) and Samantha Flynn (2) also were a part of the winning boat. Catholic posted a time of 8:46.85.
Up next, the Cardinals will compete at the St. Mary's Dual on Saturday, March 28th. The race will be held at The James P. Muldoon River Center and The Teddy Turner Waterfront.
