GERMANTOWN, Md. - Highlighted by six more medals Sunday, the Catholic University men's swimming and diving team won its sixth-straight title at the 2022 Landmark Conference Swimming & Diving Championships.
With 22 total medals this weekend, the Cardinals totaled 892.5 points which was 255 more than second-place Drew. They earned eight gold, five sliver and nine bronze.
The team of junior Ellis Prescott, senior Lenny Brown, freshman Jackson Hicks and senior Jeffrey Schriefer-Flores began the final session by earning a silver in the 800-yard freestyle relay with a time of 7:04.67.
Individually, Prescott won bronze in the 1,650-yard freestyle with a time of 16:42.80 while sophomore Jack Hufner won gold and senior Joshua Roberts earned bronze in the 200-yard backstroke. Hufner had a school-record time of 1:51.78 with Roberts touching the wall in a time of 1:54.31.
In the 200-yard breaststroke, Hicks and sophomore Nathan Ober finished first and second with both posting NCAA B cut times. Hicks won the gold with a time of 2:03.99 while Ober won silver in a time of 2:04.43.
Ober recorded his second NCAA B cut of the weekend after setting a conference and championship meet record in both the prelims and the finals of the 100-yard breaststroke to win gold on Saturday.
Catholic is the 12th different team in Landmark Conference history to win at least six-straight league titles and the second in men's swimming. The team is also the second in school history to win at least six-straight Landmark Conference championships as women's lacrosse has currently won seven in-a-row.
