TOWSON, Md. - Catholic men's swimming and diving's
Teddy Tsakumis was named Landmark Conference Athlete of the Week following his standout performance at last week's meet against Randolph-Macon. This marks Tsakumis' third Athlete of the Week honor after earning the title twice in the 2024-25 season.
Tsakumis turned in a stellar performance against the Yellow Jackets, securing two individual victories in the 100-yard Freestyle and the 100-yard Backstroke. In the 100 Free, Tsakumis picked up first with out of nine competitors, finishing with a time of 49.31 in the event. In the 100 Back, Tsakumis took the gold with a time of 52.38, finishing more than five seconds ahead of the second-place finisher from Randolph-Macon.
The junior from Wilmington, Del. also helped power the Cardinals to two relay wins. Tsakumis was the leadoff in the 200 Medley Relay where he teamed up with
Sean Kelty,
Alexander Tsakumis, and
Jack Thompson to place first with a time of 1:37.55. He later anchored in the 200 Freestyle Relay with A. Tsakumis,
James Caldwell, and Thompson, securing another first-place finish with a time of 1:29.03.
Tsakumis currently leads the conference with 586.35 points in the 2025-26 season. He is a nine-time All-Landmark Conference Selection and was a two-time champion at the 2025 Landmark Conference Championships where he took gold in the 100-yard Backstroke and 200-yard Backstroke.
The Cardinals will be back in action on Saturday, November 15 when they face off against Elizabethtown. The meet is set for 1 p.m. in the Alumni Pool.
