GERMANTOWN, Md. - The Catholic University men's swimming and diving team moved closer to winning their sixth-straight title during day two of the 2022 Landmark Conference Swimming & Diving Championships.
The Cardinals remain in first place for the second-straight day as they have a total score of 580 points heading into the final day of the championship on Sunday. They currently hold a 164.5-point lead over second-place Drew.
Catholic has won a total of 16 medals through the first two days of competition, including six gold, three silver and seven bronze.
Sophomore Nathan Ober set a conference and championship meet record as well as an NCAA B cut time in the prelims of the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 55.63 seconds before achieving the trifecta again in the finals with a time of 54.59 seconds to win gold.
The Cardinals swept the medals in the 100 breast as freshman Jackson Hicks placed second with a time of 56.57 seconds and senior Alex Farley placed third with a time of 58.60 seconds.
Ober continued his big day as a member of the 400-yard medley relay team as he joined sophomore Jack Hufner, senior Jeffrey Schriefer-Flores and junior Ellis Prescott to finish win silver with a time of 3:27.66.
In the 200-yard medley relay, the team of Hufner, Ober, Hicks and freshman Liam Crecca finished first with a time of 1:33.80.
Prescott placed first in the 400-yard individual medley finals with a time of 4:05.05 while senior Lenny Brown earned bronze in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:46.52.
Freshman Seth Greer completed his sweep of the 1-meter and 3-meter diving events as he won gold on the 3-meter board with 382.05 points. Also like the 1-meter, junior Troy Young took home bronze in the 3-meter with a total of 293.90 points.
The Cardinals look to secure their sixth consecutive Landmark Conference championship on Sunday. Prelims start at 10 a.m. with finals at 5 p.m.
