Box Score WASHINGTON, D.C. - Catholic University women's basketball senior Luca Mamula posted her second-straight double double as the No. 18/25 Cardinals posted a 64-39 victory over Susquehanna Saturday on Franny Murray Court.
The Cardinals (15-1, 6-1 LC) extended their season-long win streak to eight games while posting their sixth-straight victory against the River Hawks.
Mamula finished with 14 points and a career-high 12 rebounds while adding four blocks. In two Landmark Conference victories this week, she averaged 15.5 points and 12.0 rebounds.
Junior Rachel Bussanich just missed a double double of her own, totaling six points and a career-high 15 rebounds.
Catholic held Susquehanna (10-8, 2-6 LC) to just 2-of-14 shooting in the first quarter as it jumped out to a 17-4 lead.
The River Hawks' four first-quarter points were the fewest allowed by the Cardinals in a quarter since Nov. 23, 2019 when they held Muhlenberg to four in the fourth quarter of a 61-52 victory in the championship game of the Scotty Wood Tournament.
Led by nine points from freshman Carly Mulvaney on 3-of-3 shooting from three-point range, Catholic extended its lead to 24 at halftime after holding Susquehanna to just 4-of-27 shooting.
Mamula had six points and nine rebounds in the first 20 minutes while Bussanich added four points and nine rebounds.
The Cardinals had three players score in double figures as Mulvaney finished with 12 points on four first-half three-pointers and senior Amanda Johnson had 10 points to go along with four rebounds and four assists.
Junior Erin Doherty had nine points while junior Sammie McCarter scored seven off the bench.
Catholic made 14-of-16 free throw attempts and held a 47-31 edge in rebounds with 14 offensive boards which led to 12 second-chance points. The team also tied a season-high with eight three-pointers.
The Cardinals continue their three-game homestand on Monday when they host Elizabethtown beginning at 7 p.m.
