Box Score WASHINGTON, D.C. - Catholic women's lacrosse finished off another unbeaten Landmark Conference season with a 24-5 victory over Elizabethtown on Saturday afternoon at Carlini Field. Meghan McDonogh's Cardinals will enter the Landmark Conference Championships as the top seed, hosting fourth-seeded Susquehanna on Wednesday at 4 p.m.
Mattea Del Peschio scored four goals to lead the offensive charge as eight different Cardinals registered a multi-goal outing. Mia Perkell and Mia Scarduzio each recorded a hat trick in the contest for Catholic. Lauren Davidson earned the win, playing three quarters in goal while making four saves. Riley Martin, Caroline Regan, Grace Hill, and Scarduzio each had three draw controls while Rachel Rubenstein and Kelsey Martin each caused three turnovers and picked up five and four ground balls respectively.
Regan and Scarduzio opened the scoring for Catholic as the Cardinals took a 2-0 lead in the first 1:06 of the contest. Scarduzio scored her second of the game at the 8:49 mark of the first quarter to give the Cardinals a 4-2 lead before Perkell scored three straight goals spanning less than five minutes to extend the lead to 7-2. Caroline Beckett and Shelby Graser scored the final two goals of the period to put Catholic ahead 9-2.
Elizabethtown scored two of the first three goals of the second quarter to narrow the gap to 10-4, but Catholic ended the game on a 15-1 run over the final 38 minutes of the contest. Graser's second of the contest made it 11-4 before Del Peschio scored her second and third goals of the game to push the lead to nine goals. Riley Cherkes scored with 40 seconds left in the first half to extend the lead to 10 and start the running clock.
Catholic outscored Elizabethtown 6-0 in the third to push its lead to 20-4. Hill, Abby Monaco and Madeline Kelly each got on the board with a goal in the period. In the fourth, Izzy Fiore scored a pair of goals while Kate Olsen notched her lone goal of the game to make it 22-4. Kelly's second of the game came with 16 seconds left to complete the 24-5 win.
Beckett scored two goals and had a team-high three assists on the day while Olsen chipped in with a pair of assists on the day. Twelve different Catholic players scored a goal in the win as the Cardinals matched their season high for goals in a game.
