BALTIMORE, Md. — The Catholic University men's track and field team took the short trip north to Baltimore on Saturday to compete at the Loyola/Hopkins Invite.
A pair of Catholic sprinters performed well. Jevontae Fearwell grabbed a top-10 finish in a field of 60 competitors in the 100-meter dash, sprinting to a season's-best time of 11.08. His counterpart in the 200m, Chilowe Osai, dashed 23.12 to place third in the event after Fearwell's effort was good enough for seventh.
No stranger to top-five finishes, John O'Rourke earned another one today in the 1,500-meter run. The senior clocked a season's-best time of 3:55.22 to better numerous DI entries and place fifth in the field of 72 athletes.
James Galang grabbed a personal best in the 400m with a time of 52.72 while Nick Troy also set a new personal standard in the 400-meter hurdles, clocking in at one minute flat. Joseph Sparmo added his own personal best in a hurdle event, clocking in at 19.21 in the 110mH competition.
Personal bests were also falling in the field! The pair of Aidan Lang (11th, 39.78) and Bobby Santangelo (16th, 32.96) both bettered their previous best marks in the hammer throw.
Charles Connolly joined the fun with a seventh-place finish out of 19 competitors in the high jump. He cleared 1.83m for the new personal standard as teammate Connor Powers cleared the exact same height to for a season's-best mark.
Lang claimed a fifth-place finish in the shot put with a mark of 12.78m while Jordyn Walker also finished fifth in the long jump, posting a 6.59-meter effort.
Steve Rahn's squad will compete at the Gallaudet Invitational next weekend as the final tune-up before the all-important Landmark Conference Championships on the first weekend of May.
