WASHINGTON, D.C. - Catholic women's lacrosse celebrated Senior Day on a beautiful Saturday afternoon in D.C. with a 17-9 victory over Susquehanna. Catholic improves to 2-0 in Landmark Conference play while Susquehanna dropped a second straight Landmark Conference affair. 

Caroline Beckett (4), Mattea Del Peschio (3), Riley Cherkes (3), and Kate Olsen (3) combined for 13 of the Cardinals' 17 goals in the victory. Catholic used a 5-0 second quarter to begin to pull away from Susquehanna before closing out an eight-goal win. 

Defensively, Rachel Rubenstein was credited with four ground balls, five draw controls, and four caused turnovers while Lauren Bendo added three ground balls and four caused turnovers. Lauren Davidson earned the win in the cage, making five saves in just under 48 minutes of game action. 

Beckett scored the first goal of the contest just 24 seconds in, but Catholic was held off the scoreboard for the next 10:13 before Mia Perkell tied the game at 2-2 with 4:23 remaining in the period. 

Susquehanna scored its second goal of the contest at the 8:49 mark of the first period. The Catholic defense locked in and the River Hawks' next goal didn't come until the 14:37 mark of the third quarter. The Cardinals scored all five of the second-quarter goals with Beckett putting Catholic ahead 3-2 with 9:54 left in the half. Nearly six minutes later, she scored again to put the Cardinals ahead 4-2. Olsen's first of the game gave Catholic a 5-2 advantage with 2:46 left in the half. Del Peschio's first of the day came with 1:08 to play in the quarter off a feed from Izzy Fiore. Finally, Olsen scored off a Beckett feed with 13 seconds left to put the Cardinals up 7-2 at the half. 

Catholic scored three of the first four goals of a 12-goal third period to extend the lead to 10-3 with 11:24 left in the quarter. Cherkes scored two goals within 90 seconds of each other while Olsen's third of the game was sandwiched in between. Both teams traded goals with Catholic's lead down to 12-7 after an Emma Kelleher goal with 5:25 left in the third, but Catholic scored the final two of the period to lead it 14-7. Perkell's second of the game came on a woman-up opportunity with 2:38 left in the quarter. 30 seconds later Madeline Kelly scored unassisted for Catholic. 

The scoring slowed back down in the fourth as Catholic scored three more goals to close out a 17-9 win. Cherkes scored off a Del Peschio feed less than 40 seconds into the period before assisting on a Del Peschio goal with 12:10 left to give Catholic a 16-7 lead. Jill Kennedy scored her first goal on a free-position shot with 5:16 left to make it 17-9. 

Beckett (4g 3a), Kelsey Martin (2 ground balls, 1 caused turnover), Olsen (3g), Grace Hill, Abby Monaco (1 ground ball), and Iszy Del Peschio (3 ground balls, 2 caused turnovers) were all honored after the contest. Graduate Assistant Kelsey Perretta was also honored by the program on Senior Day. 

Next up, Catholic will travel to Juniata on Thursday for a Landmark Conference contest at 4 p.m.
