Box Score WASHINGTON, D.C. — The Catholic University men's lacrosse team fell to No. 11 Washington and Lee on Wednesday afternoon.
Senior Danny Fitzgibbons scored a pair of goals in the contest and goalkeeper Nic Pezone made 18 saves.
Catholic got off to a hot start as Cooper DiCicco won the opening face-off and shoveled a pass to Fitz McLaughlin, who scored just four seconds into the game. The Cardinals made it 2-0 before the Generals turned on the heat and took control of the game.
Senior Collin Stein produced a strong game, scooping up five ground balls and causing two turnovers.
This contest marked the first of six in a row against teams ranked or receiving votes in both the Nike/USA Lacrosse and the USILA Coaches top-20 polls. Next up for the Cardinals will be Franklin and Marshall as Catholic welcomes the Diplomats to Carlini Field at 1 p.m. on Saturday.
