TOWSON, Md. - Nine members of the Catholic men's lacrosse team received Landmark Conference honors, it was announced today.
Burke Healy headlined the selections, earning the Rookie of the Year title, as well as a Second Team All-Landmark Honor.
Healy receives Rookie of the Year honors after a stellar debut season. The freshman from Rehoboth Beach, Delaware, led the squad with 59 points in the regular season after scoring 36 goals and dishing out 23 assists. Healy was sixth in the Landmark in points per game, averaging 3.69. He was also eighth in the conference in goals per game, averaging 2.25, and assists per game with an average of 1.44. He is the first Cardinal to receive this honor since 2021, and the fourth player in program history.
In the midfield,
Cullen Lotz was named to the All-Landmark First Team, securing his first career honor. Lotz had the fourth-most goals on the Catholic squad this season with 24, while also tallying 16 assists for a total of 40 points. The junior logged a point in all 16 games he appeared in this season, recording a career high six points against Elizabethtown with his three goals and assists.
Colton Manorek receives his first career honor, being named the All-Landmark Second Team goalkeeper this season. He is currently top-five in the conference in goals against average (8.37) and saves percentage (.550). He is also seventh in saves per game at 8.41. Manorek totaled seven games where he had 10 or more saves, logging a career-high of 17 saves at Scranton. The East Weymouth, Massachusetts native was named Landmark Athlete of the Week three times this season. He started in all 17 games, totaling 143 saves and 11 wins during his sophomore campaign.
Connor Baia and
Jack Suchanek both earned nods for their crucial role at the face-off X. Baia received First Team honors after going 173-236 in face-offs this season and scooping up 88 ground balls, the third-most in the conference. He recorded a face-off percentage of .733, putting him at eighth in the conference. Suchanek received a Landmark Honorable Mention, going 132-189 in face-offs this season, picking up 81 ground balls, and recording the ninth-highest percentage in the conference at .698.
Finn Smith and
Jake McGowan each received First Team honors, Smith in the Short Stick category and McGowan as a defenseman. This is each of their first career honors. Smith had 34 ground balls this season as well as eight caused turnovers. He also scored two goals, while picking up four assists. McGowan started in all 17 games this season, logging 20 ground balls, as well as 14 caused turnovers.
Zach Gibson and
Sam Pikul received Second Team recognition, Gibson as a Long Stick and Pikul as defenseman. This is Gibson's first career honor. He notched 12 caused turnovers this season, as well as 45 ground balls. He also scored three goals during his junior season, and logged an assist. This marks Pikul's second career honor, he previously was named to the All-Landmark Second Team in 2023, his sophomore season. Pikul started in all 17 games this year and logged eight caused turnovers and 17 ground balls.
With nine Cardinals selected for All-Landmark Teams, this ties the record for most players to receive honors in a single-season, which was previously set in 2022.
The Cardinals will host Elizabethtown for the Landmark Conference Tournament Semifinals Wednesday, April 29, at 4 p.m.
