Box Score

MADISON, N.J. - Catholic University women's basketball had four players score in double figures and knocked down 10 threes as a team in Saturday afternoon's 64-58 Landmark Conference road victory over Drew. The Cardinals improved to 13-4 on the season and 4-2 in conference play.

Carly Mulvaney returned to the starting lineup after a stretch of solid play off the bench and scored 13 points to help pace the Cardinal offense. Erin Doherty also scored 13 while Erin Thompson and Molly Aromando each chipped in with 11 points. Mulvaney, Doherty, and Aromando each made three triples, combining for nine of Catholic's 10 makes from beyond the arc.

The Cardinals used a red-hot start to Saturday's contest to build a lead and then hold on over the final stretch of the contest. Catholic opened the game on a 9-0 run and outscored Drew 20-7 in the first period. The Rangers won two of the next three periods, but the Cardinals held on for a crucial conference road win.

Thompson scored the first bucket of the game and knocked down a pair of free throws on Catholic's run to start the game while Doherty hit her first three at the 5:10 mark to push the Cardinals ahead 9-0. After Drew got on the board, Doherty followed up with another triple before five straight points from Aromando helped Catholic to a 17-4 lead. Aromando's three at the 2:40 mark was the final bucket of the quarter, sending the Cardinals into the second with a 13-point advantage.

A pair of Anna Scoblick buckets kept Catholic's lead at 12 with 7:02 left in the half before the Rangers chopped the deficit down to seven with 5:49 left in the quarter. This time it was Mulvaney with the answer for Catholic as her first three of the game pushed the lead to 27-17 with 5:37 left in the first half.

Aromando hit her third three of the half with 3:45 to play to put Catholic up 12 and Keegan Douglas followed with a jumper to push the lead to 14. The Rangers scored with 1:14 left in the half and the Cardinals took a 35-24 lead into the locker room at halftime.

Mulvaney hit another three in the third to put Catholic ahead by 15 with 8:19 to go in the third. Back-to-back Ranger threes cut the Cardinal lead to six just minutes later. At the 2:27 mark, Katrina Wojtowicz knocked down a three to cut Catholic's lead all the way down to three, but Amelia Baldo pushed the lead back to five just under 30 seconds later. Mulvaney's final three of the contest came with 37 seconds left in the quarter and the Cardinal lead swelled back to eight after three.

Doherty got going early on in the fourth, scoring back-to-back buckets to make Catholic's lead 10 points with 8:29 left in the contest. Joey Myers made it a six-point game with 5:41 left, but Thompson's lone three of the game came at a crucial time and pushed the Cardinal lead back to nine with just over five minutes to play.

A three-point play from Myers cut Catholic's lead back to three with 3:31 left before the Cardinal lead shrunk down to two with 2:32 remaining, but Catholic scored on the next three possessions with Doherty responsible for three points and two assists over that stretch to help secure the game for Catholic. Her assist on a Rachel Bussanich bucket with 51 seconds left put Catholic ahead 62-55.

Six different players recorded two or more assists for Catholic as the team assisted on 18 of its 24 makes. Mulvaney has now scored in double figures in her last three contests while Aromando's 11 points are her season-high and one shy of a career-high.

Catholic returns to the court on Wednesday at Juniata.
