Box Score ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. - A total of 18 players registered a point on Saturday as the Catholic University women's lacrosse team downed Elizabethtown on the road, 21-6.
With the win, the 16th-ranked Cardinals (7-4, 3-0 LC) extended their conference win streak to 48 games.
Catholic was led offensively by the junior duo of Caroline Beckett and Kate Olsen, who recorded their fourth and fifth hat-tricks of the season, respectively. Beckett also dished out two assists while Olsen recorded one to go along with two caused turnovers and three ground balls.
The Cardinals shined in the redefend, holding the Blue Jays to just 11-of-24 on clears while forcing 23 turnovers.
Catholic and Elizabethtown (1-11, 0-3 LC) traded goals to open the game before the Cardinals rattled off seven-straight to take a 10-2 lead after 15 minutes. Olsen, senior Julia Piet and sophomore Kaila Bernstiel all converted on free-position opportunities as the team went 4-for-7 on the afternoon.
Freshmen Madeline Kelly and Jill Kennedy combined for a fast break goal just 15 seconds into the second quarter to push the lead to nine. After the Blue Jays cut the lead back to eight, sophomores Riley Cherkes and Anna Corona scored less than 30 seconds apart to extend the lead to 10.
Senior Caitlyn Bowles scored her first goal of the season with 2:49 remaining in the second as the Cardinals led 15-4 at halftime. Classmate Rachel Searle earned the win in goal while contributing two caused turnovers and one ground ball.
Sophomore Mattea Del Peschio highlighted the third quarter as she recorded the first two points of her career. She assisted Olsen off a free-position before scoring off an assist from freshman Caroline Regan just four minutes later.
Senior Molly Monaghan assisted Piet to close out the quarter as the senior also contributed a goal, three draw controls and a ground ball in the midfield.
Leading 18-5 after three, junior Abby Monaco picked up three fourth-quarter points with two goals and one assist. Cherkes and freshman Kayla Brooks each recorded assists before Monaco assisted sophomore Julia Ferraiolo on her second goal of the season.
In relief of Searle, sophomore Lauren Davidson made four second-half saves while scooping up one ground ball. Sophomore Rachel Rubenstein totaled five ground balls, five draw controls and two caused turnovers. Senior Iszy Del Peschio led the Cardinals with three caused turnovers.
Catholic concludes its three-game road trip on Thursday at Drew. Opening draw is at 4 p.m.
