Box Score LEXINGTON, Va. - Catholic University women's lacrosse senior Julia Piet scored twice as the No. 14 Cardinals dropped their first road game of the season at No. 4 Washington and Lee, 12-4.
Catholic (2-2) scored the game's first goal when Piet scored on a free position to give the team a 1-0 lead with 5:50 remaining in the first quarter.
However, the Generals (3-2) reeled off the next 10 consecutive tallies, including three from Hannah Bishop, to take a 10-1 lead with 1:15 left in the third quarter.
Piet netted her second goal of the game and fourth of the season off an assist from junior Kate Olsen with just three seconds to play in the third to stop the run.
Washington and Lee scored twice to start the fourth before the Cardinals capped the scoring with back-to-back goals from Olsen and sophomore Shelby Graser.
Catholic forced the Generals into a season-high 20 turnovers with sophomore Rachel Rubenstein leading the way with a season-high six ground balls and one caused turnover.
Senior Rachel Searle made four saves and caused one turnover while senior Anna Maupin had three draw controls.
The Cardinals play at home for the fourth time in five games this season on Wednesday when they host No. 18 Bowdoin at Carlini Field beginning at 4 p.m.
