Cardinals Continue Tremendous Season With Win At Yellow Jacket Invite

RICHMOND, Va. - Holding the lead after day one of the Yellow Jacket Invitational, the Catholic University women's swim team held on for the victory on Sunday afternoon, totaling 1,555.5 points to hold off host Randolph-Macon with 1,457 points.

Catholic entered day two with 1,008.5 points and continued an all-around strong effort into Sunday.

Ava Snyder continued a massive weekend, winning the 1,650 free by nearly eight seconds to add to her win total. Snyder closed out the distance event in 17:56.65, a time more than 30 seconds faster than any other Landmark Conference swimmer this season. Caitie Heise placed fifth in the event with a time of 18:32.95, the fastest mark in the Landmark by a non-Snyder swimmer this season.

Emily Albans won the 200 back, holding off teammate Maura Sadowski by just under three seconds with a time of 2:11.63. Albans' mark is good for third in the conference this year while Sadowski's time of 2:14.17 is good for fourth.

Catholic had five more second-place finishers, including two relays. Katie Herman took second in the 100 free with a time of 53.48, just being edged out by a winning time of 53.26. Her time is a season-best and the second-fastest in the Landmark.

Other individual second-place finishers were Bella Mugno and Kaitlin Patt. Mugno finished second in the 200 breast with a time of 2:32.33, a season-best time and the fifth-best in the conference. Patt touched the wall in 2:12.25 in the 200 fly, the fastest time in the conference by .07.

Catholic also placed second in the 400 free relay and the 800 free relay. Albans, Shannon Raue, Snyder, and Herman combined for the 400 free relay, finishing just behind Washington College with a time of 3:37.99. That time is good for the second-fastest in the conference.

Herman, Patt, Sadowski, and Snyder were in combination for the 800 free relay with a time of 8:02.39, also the second-fastest time in the Landmark this season.
