BALTIMORE, Md. - The Catholic women's swimming and diving team earned a runner-up finish at the 2026 Landmark Conference Championships, totaling 873 during the weekend. The Cardinals' performance was highlighted by
Bella Mugno being named Landmark Swimmer of the Year and
Anna Dymek earning Rookie of the Year honors.
Scranton captured the title with 887 points.Â
Maura Sadowski and
Molly Foltz opened the evening in the 1650 Freestyle final. Sadowski earned a silver medal with a time of 18:05.84, while Foltz finished just seconds behind the leaders in fourth at 18:07.18.
Tara Wiarda once again dominated the backstroke events, claiming gold in the 200 Backstroke. After a strong preliminary swim, Wiarda carried that momentum into the A Final where she finished first with a time of 2:05.36.Â
In the 100 Freestyle,
Emily Albans secured a podium finish, with a second-place time of 53.68.
Claire Brockmann finished fourth in the event, recording a time of 54.51.
The Cardinals delivered a podium sweep in the 200 Breaststroke on the final day of competition, Mugno led the way with a gold medal in 2:21.35, followed by Dymek in second in 2:24.37 and
Delainey Brandt in third at 2:26.03.
Catholic closed out the weekend with a gold-medal performance in the 400 Freestyle Relay. The team of Albans,
Keriann Collison,
Emily Blaskovich, and
Grace Kelly combined for a winning time of 3:37.09.
Mugno was named Landmark Swimmer of the Year for the third consecutive year. This is the sixth time a Cardinal has received this honor. Mugno picked up six first-place finishes throughout the weekend, including three gold medals for relay events and three for individual.
Dymek was named Landmark Rookie of the Year after her performances at the meet. She joins Wiarda and four others who have received this honor to become the sixth person from Catholic women's swimming and diving to receive this honor. She added four gold medals and a silver to her collection during the championship meet.
This meet concludes the 2025-26 campaign for the Cardinals.
