BALTIMORE, Md. - The Catholic University women's swimming and diving team delivered another standout performance Saturday at the Landmark Conference Championships, highlighted by a meet-record swim from
Tara Wiarda. The Cardinals remain in contention heading into the final day in second with 598.5 points.
Bella Mugno led Catholic in the 400 Individual Medley with a first-place finish in 4:37.35.
Molly Foltz added a second-place finish in the event with a time of 4:41.27. Mugno went on to pick up another gold medal in the 100 Breaststroke, posting a time of 1:04.98.
Delainey Brandt and
Grace Kelly rounded out the top-three in the event, Brandt finishing second in 1:06.05 and Kelly finishing third in 1:06.61.
In the 100 Butterfly,
Anna Dymek picked up the gold with a time of 57.08.
Logan Shields added a fifth-place finish in 1:00.62.
In the 200 Freestyle,
Maura Sadowski added another medal to her collection, finishing in third, recording a time of 1:57.61.
Wiarda etched her name into the record books in the 100 Backstroke, breaking the Landmark Championship meet record with a time of 57.50. The previous mark of 57.58 was set by Catholic's Caroline Beal at the 2020 Landmark Championships. Wiarda's record-breaking swim earned her a first-place finish in the event and
Emily Albans followed close behind, clocking a time of 58.27 to place second.
Catholic closed the evening with a first-place finish in the 200 Free Relay. The team of Kelly,
Emily Blaskovich, Albans, and
Keriann Collison finished in 1:38.22.
The Cardinals will conclude competition Sunday at the Landmark Conference Championships.
