RICHMOND, Va. - The Catholic women's swimming team leads the Yellow Jacket Invitational after day one in Richmond.
The Cardinals totaled 1008.5 points, comfortably ahead of Randolph-Macon with 907 points.
Catholic opened up the event with a win in the 200-yard free relay. Katie Herman, Emily Blaskovich, Ava Snyder, and Emily Albans combined for the victory with a time of 1:38.24, winning by just under three seconds.
Snyder proceeded to put forth a dominant performance in the 500 free, winning the event by nearly eight seconds with a time of 5:11.40.
Herman blazed through the 50 free with a time of 24.10 to win the event by more than a second.
The Cardinals picked up another relay win in the 400 medley, bringing together Albans, Bella Mugno, Kaitlin Patt, and Herman for a victory by just over three seconds with a time of 4:01.36.
Snyder continued a dominant effort with a win in the 200 free, just edging out Washington College's Emily Iampieri by 0.16 seconds.
Catholic placed three of the top four in the 100 back with Albans picking up the win in 58.79 seconds. Patt (59.70) and Maura Sadowski (1:01.67) placed second and fourth.
Back on top in the relay events to end the day, the Cardinals won the 200 medley with Albans, Mugno, Patt, and Herman combining for the win with a time of 1:50.17.
