Box Score COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. - The Catholic University field hockey team dropped a road game against No. 15 Ursinus on Saturday afternoon. Senior Katie Cusumano scored the lone goal for the Cardinals in the third quarter.
Both teams could not find the back of the net in the first quarter as senior Maysen Elliott recorded fives saves in the period. The Bears (3-1) picked up a 1-0 lead just three minutes into the second quarter off a goal from Gabriela Howell.
In the third quarter, Ursinus and Catholic traded 13 shots and five goals. The Bears scored three goals in a span of just 2:20 to take a 4-0 lead before Cusumano scored her team-leading third goal of the season. The middfielder scored off a rebound in front of the net to put the Cardinals (1-3) on the board.
Both teams were once again shut out in the fourth quarter as Elliott picked up three more of her career-high 10 saves on the day.
Catholic returns to the field on Wednesday, Sept. 15 when it travels to No. 14 Christopher Newport. Start time is set for 6 p.m.
