Box Score

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Catholic University women's lacrosse sophomore Kate Olsen scored a career-high seven points to lead the No. 8 Cardinals to a 19-10 win over Drew Saturday at Carlini Field.

With the win, Catholic (1-0, 1-0 LC) extended its conference win streak to 39 games dating back to 2013.

The team also remained unbeaten in eight games at Carlini Field since a 10-9 win over No. 2 Franklin & Marshall in the first game on March 20, 2019.

In her fourth career game, Olsen scored four goals while adding three assists. She totaled four goals in three games during the shortened 2020 season.

The Cardinals fell behind 4-1 in the game's first 20 minutes as the Rangers (1-2, 1-2 LC) got two goals from Hailey Simmons and one goal and one assist from Allie DiDario.

However, Olsen connected with sophomore Grace Hill with 7:08 remaining in the first half to spark nine unanswered goals for Catholic as it took a 10-4 lead with just over 20 minutes left in the second half.

Olsen had a hand in four of the Cardinals' nine tallies with two goals and two assists while senior Anna Maupin also scored twice.

Drew cut its deficit to four at 10-6 and again at 13-9 with 11:02 to play, but Catholic closed the game by scoring six of the last seven goals, including the final five.

A total of 11 different players found the back of the net for the Cardinals while 12 had at least one point. Senior Holly Regan finished with two goals and two assists while Maupin joined Olsen with a hat-trick.

Freshmen Riley Martin, Mauria Blair and Riley Cherkes each scored their first career goal.

After falling behind 4-1, Catholic outscored the Rangers 18-6 over the final 39 minutes.

Defensively, senior Nanci Hernandez totaled 12 saves, including eight in the second half, seven ground balls and three caused turnovers. The Cardinals totaled 11 caused turnovers as a team as it forced Drew into 22 total turnovers. Senior Emily Bynoe added two caused turnovers.
