Box Score WASHINGTON, D.C. - A total of 13 players scored at least one goal as the 10th-ranked Catholic University women's lacrosse posted a convincing 18-6 victory over Rowan Saturday in its home opener at Carlini Field.
The Cardinals (2-0) posted their 10th win in the last 12 meetings against the Profs since 2008 while improving their record to 8-1 at Carlini Field.
Junior Anna Maupin totaled her second hat-trick in as many games this season while sophomore Bridget Beck posted a career-high four points with two goals and two assists.
Maupin scored just 58 seconds into the game and Catholic never trailed.
Leading 3-2, the Cardinals scored five-straight goals to extend their lead to six following a goal by senior Holly Regan on a free-position shot with 4:35 remaining in the first half.
Regan added her second goal with just 34 seconds left to give Catholic a 10-3 halftime lead.
Another 5-0 run midway through the second half increased the Cardinals lead to 16-5 with 16:52 to play in the second before back-to-back tallies by Beck and sophomore Lauren Zelnik provided the final margin.
A total of seven Cardinals registered their first goal of the season, including freshman Grace Hill who netted the first of her career.
Senior Nanci Hernandez made seven saves while Maupin added two caused turnovers.
Catholic returns to action on Monday, March 9 at Washington College. Opening draw is set for 4 p.m.
