No. 10 Cardinals Fall on the Road at No. 8 York (Pa.), 12-9

YORK, Pa. - The Catholic University women's lacrosse team scored four of the game's final six goals, but could not overcome a five-goal deficit midway through the second half as the 10th-ranked Cardinals fell to No. 8 York (Pa.) at Kinsley Field Wednesday, 12-9.

Catholic (7-3) fell to 2-3 this season against nationally-ranked opponents, including 1-2 against the top-10.

Sophomore Anna Maupin led the way offensively with two goals and one assist as she was one of four Cardinals to score at least two goals. Two-time reigning Landmark Conference Offensive Player of the Week, junior Ally Criscuolo, had two goals to go along with three ground balls and two caused turnovers. Over her last five games, Criscuolo has totaled 16 goals, 20 points, 11 ground balls and eight caused turnovers.

Seniors Jess Lyons and Katie Sherry also had two goals apiece.

Led by one goal and one assist from Maupin, Catholic jumped out to a 3-1 lead in the game's first 11:13. However, led by two goals each from Hayley McCormick and Caitlin Rankin, the Spartans (7-4) scored seven of the game's next eight goals to take an 8-4 lead with 28:51 remaining in the second half.

After Criscuolo's first tally of the game, York's Meghan Fox scored back-to-back unassisted goals to give the Spartans' their largest lead of the game, 10-5.

York held a 16-6 margin in draw controls and outshot the Cardinals, 27-23. Catholic is 0-3 when being outshot this season with all three losses coming to No. 4 Salisbury, No. 12 Wesleyan (CT) and No. 8 York (Pa.).

Senior Erin Dugan finished with four ground balls and three draw controls while junior Nanci Hernandez totaled 11 saves, four ground balls and two caused turnovers.

The Cardinals return to action on Saturday when they host Drew in a Landmark Conference contest at Carlini Field on Senior Day. Opening draw is set for noon.
