WASHINGTON, D.C. - After taking a first inning lead against Johns Hopkins, the Catholic University baseball team fell to the 11th-ranked team in the nation on Tuesday, 12-2. 

The Blue Jays used two big innings to take a commanding ten run lead that lifted them over the Cardinals (9-8) for their second consecutive double-digit win. Junior Connor Sullivan and senior Bailey Lewis led Catholic with two hits apiece at the top of the lineup. 

The hosts took the lead in the first inning after Sullivan led off with a single to left field. Senior Ryan Tracy walked and then Lewis smacked a tailing line drive to right field that scored Sullivan for a 1-0 advantage. 

Johns Hopkins answered in the top of the second with six runs of their own on six hits against starter Matt Tesoriero. The outburst chased Tesoriero and forced Catholic to its bullpen early during a busy week with four more games including a series with Landmark opponent Scranton. After a six-run second and five-run fourth inning, the visitors took control of the contest. 

Seven differnet pitchers threw for the Cardinals in the effort against Hopkins. Sophomore MJ Dziczkowski pitched two scoreless innings in the sixth and seventh. Catholic turned an impressive 5-4-3 double play, its second of the day, to preserve the a clean top of the sixth. 

After Nolan Lundholm reached second base on an error in the bottom half of the sixth, junior Cid Porter doubled to the gap in left center to bring in Catholic's second run of the afternoon. 

The Cardinals get back to it with another game tomorrow at home. Catholic hosts York (Pa.) at 3:30 p.m. on Robert J. Talbot Field.
