ROCKLAND, Mass.  – Rising junior pitcher Jack Scholz has been having a strong summer playing for the Norwich Sea Unicorns in the Futures League. Scholz has been such a standout that he has been selected to play in the Futures League All-Star Game which takes place on Tuesday, July 21 at Holman Stadium in Nashua, New Hampshire.

Scholz has been a steady presence out of the bullpen for the Sea Unicorns throughout the season thus far, pitching to a 2.04 ERA over 17.2 innings in 12 appearances. He has struck out an impressive 22 batters, bringing his K's per nine innings to 11.21. Scholz is also tied for second in the league in saves with four. At one point this summer, he had a four game stretch where he pitched 4.1 innings, allowing just one hit with no runs and seven strikeouts.

"Jack has been our lockdown guy out of the bullpen," said Lee Walter Jr., General Manger of the Sea Unicorns. "He's been a fierce competitor but more importantly a great teammate on and off the field. I can not say enough about how much I have enjoyed getting to know him this summer and being a part of his baseball journey."

Scholz put together a solid sophomore season in the spring for Catholic as he finished with a 3.07 ERA over 14.2 innings with 14 punch outs. He also was the team-leader in saves for the second consecutive season with four and allowed just one run over his last five outings with eight strikeouts.
