Scholz and Cardman Earn Summer Honors

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Jack Scholz and Luke Cardman of the Catholic baseball team each received honors after successful summer seasons, it was announced recently.

Jack Scholz received D3baseball.com Summer Baseball Honor Roll recognition after a strong summer playing for the Norwich Sea Unicorns in the Futures League. He logged 23 strikeouts across 18.2 innings pitched. The Lower Merion, Pa. native earned four saves during the summer. Scholz was also selected to play in the Futures League All-Star Game at the end of July.

During his sophomore season, Scholz threw for 14.2 innings with 14 strikeouts. He finished the season with a 3.07 ERA and was the team-leader in saves with four.

Luke Cardman spent his summer playing for the Bunt Cakes in the Potomac League. Cardman had a steady season on the mound, leading the Bunt Cakes with 21.1 innings pitched, the ninth-most in the league. He earned three wins and recorded 23 strikeouts, tied for the fourth-most in the league. The Bunt Cakes went 11-6 during the summer season and played in Round 1 of the PCL Playoffs. 

Cardman had a successful junior season for the Cardinals, finishing the season with a 2.87 ERA over 47.0 innings with 39 strikeouts. He tied the squad's leaderboard with Roman Tozzi with four wins.
