Box Score

WASHINGTON, D.C. - On Saturday, a total of 15 players scored at least one point, including four who picked up their first of the season as the 14th-ranked Catholic University women's lacrosse team opened Landmark Conference play with a 20-4 victory over Elizabethtown at Carlini Field.

The Cardinals (5-2, 1-0) used a dominant first half en route to their 32nd consecutive conference victory. The Cards led 14-3 at the half after outshooting the Blue Jays 24-7 and winning 13 of 18 draw controls.

Seniors Jess Lyons and Megan Ellis finished with five goals apiece while junior Ally Criscuolo had three goals and one assist.

Catholic scored the first four goals of the game, the last two of which were only 33 seconds apart, before Elizabethtown (2-6, 0-1) scored the next three to pull within one with 21:56 remaining in the first half.

Lyons netted her second goal of the game just 19 seconds later to start a stretch of 16-straight goals for the Cardinals who led 20-3 with 3:13 left in the second half.

During the run, four players netted their first goal of the season, including senior Molly Kelly, sophomore Molly Grady, freshman Julia Piet and junior Nicole DiFabio. Grady scored back-to-back a mere 49 seconds apart for the first two goals of her career.

The Blue Jays finally snapped a scoreless streak of 51:35 when Katie Ziegler scored with just 21 seconds remaining to provide the final margin.

Three goalies combined to make six saves for Catholic, three of which came from freshman Emily Tremblay who made her first career appearance. Senior Kayla Purdy had three caused turnovers while Lyons, sophomore Emily Bynoe and sophomore Anna Maupin each had four draw controls.

The Cardinals begin a three-game road trip on Wednesday when they head to Messiah to take on the Falcons beginning at 4 p.m.
