Anderson Scores Game-Winner in Win Over No. 11 Ursinus

Box Score

WASHINGTON, D.C. - The Catholic University field hockey team was victorious over No. 11 Ursinus in a non-conference contest Wednesday at Cardinal Stadium, 2-1.

Ursinus scored first after scoring off a penalty corner making the score 1-0 in the first quarter.

Catholic (9-7) tied the game in the second quarter when sophomore forward Hannah Bateman scored unassisted with less than eight minutes remaining.

Just five minutes later, senior forward Katie Anderson finished her shot off a rebound to put the Cards ahead 2-1.

Ursinus had five attempts in the final two quarters, but could not find the equalizer. An impressive save by sophomore goalkeeper Maysen Elliott in the final minute sealed the deal for the Cardinals who posted their first win over a ranked opponent since a 3-2 win over No. 7 Salisbury at home on Oct. 4, 2017.

Elliott finished with four saves and improved her record to 6-5 this season.

Catholic travels to Moravian to face the Greyhounds in a Landmark Conference matchup on Saturday, Oct. 26 at 1 p.m.
