Box Score Towson, Md. - The Catholic University of America women's basketball team traveled north to take on the Gophers of Goucher College and returned home with its 12th win of the season after a 68-31 triumph.
Catholic senior Samantha Cowan shot an outstanding 100% from the floor including 3-of-3 from long range to collect a game-high 15 points and secured a team-high eight rebounds.
Catholic head coach Matt Donohue utilized 13 players in the game while the team's reserves to collected 46 points in the Landmark victory. Rookie Kate Parker scored a career-high eight points off the bench while her classmate Courtney McCool recorded a career-high four points.
The Cardinals held the Gophers to their lowest allowed point total this season. They scored double-digit points in all four quarters while they kept the Gophers to under six points in each of the first three.
Goucher held the lead on a 4-3 run in the opening four and a half minute before a jumper from senior Payton Smith put the Cards ahead by one. The Gophers knocked down one more and Catholic senior Briana Bull answer with a jump shot, and one, to start a 6-0 run by the Cardinals.
With a 11-6 lead after the first 10 minutes period, Catholic lit up the hardwood in the second quarter. The Cardinals outscored the Gophers 21-5 in the quarter to take a 32-11 lead at the halftime break.
Following the intermission, Catholic continued to dominate the floor. Cowan and Parker each shot 4-of-4 from the field in the second half while freshman Cristin George pulled down five rebounds to help secure the midweek victory.
The Cardinals returns to the nation's capital to host conference foe Scranton University at 4 p.m., on Saturday, January 20.
