No. 10 Cardinals Triumph Over Scranton Royals

Scranton, Pa. - No. 10 The Catholic University of America women's lacrosse team won its second straight Landmark Conference game of the season with a 20-4 victory over the University of Scranton on Saturday afternoon.

Catholic senior Alexis Bosilovic tallied four goals and two assists while fellow senior Laura Dunn and freshman Holly Regan each completed a hattrick. Senior Allie Bond won seven draw controls and her classmate Rachel Meyer scooped up three ground balls and caused two turnovers.

Regan started the Cardinals off with a goal in the third minutes of play. Catholic continued its scoring streak with six unanswered, with goals from Bosilovic, Dunn, sophomore Megan Ellis (2) and senior Jenna Van Middelem.

Scranton notched three in a row to cut Catholic's lead in half (6-3). Catholic senior Ana Brandenburg followed with Catholic seventh goal of the event and freshman Katie Bradbury registered the eighth.

The Royals got one more in the cage before the break and with just two seconds remaining in the first half Catholic senior Clair Schmitzer advanced the Cards lead to 9-4.

The Cardinals outscored the Royals 11-0 in the second half to capture the conference victory. Bosilovic racked up three second-half goals while Dunn and Regan each had two.

Sophomore Nicolette Crisalli scored Catholic's 14th goal and freshman Julia Clementi and sophomore Jessica Lyons each tallied a goal in the final 15 minutes of play. Van Middelem put the Cardinals' final score in the cage.

Sophomore goalie Christina De Cesaris made nine saves for her sixth win of the year and freshman Nanci Hernandez closed out the final nine minutes between the pipes with four saves. 

The Cardinals will remain on the road with a nonconference matchup between No. 7 York College of Pennsylvania on Tuesday, April 4 beginning at 4 p.m.
