Box Score WASHINGTON – The Catholic University of America field hockey team took on its fifth nationally-ranked opponent of the season and second top-10 team in its past three games on Tuesday night. The Cardinals traveled to face No. 7 Ursinus, but were topped, 4-0.
It was the second top-seven foe for the Cards in just six days as they faced No. 1 Messiah on the road last Wednesday.
Urisuns controlled for much of the first half, outshooting the Cardinals, 11-1. Senior goalkeeper Analisa Scott made three saves in the first 35 minutes, but the Bears found the back of the cage in the 24th minute and added an insurance score in the 33rd to take a 2-0 lead into the break.
Catholic matched Ursinus' output in the second with four shots and two penalty corners, but could not get on the board.
The Bears added two more in the second to take the 4-0 victory.
Catholic has already clinched the No. 2 seed in the Landmark Conference Tournament and will host Susquehanna on November 2 in the semifinals but first travels to Scranton this Saturday at 1 p.m.
