Box Score Lexington, Va. – The Catholic University of America football team was able to get its run game going on Saturday at Washington & Lee, but the Generals were able to negate the vaunted passing attack of the Cardinals, en route to a 52-33 victory.
Junior running back Matt Perno went for a season-high 110 yards on the ground with two rushing scores, including a 47-yard touchdown in the final quarter
Unfortunately, Washington & Lee built a 30-point cushion five mintues into the third, taking a 28-5 lead into halftime and scoring again out of the break.
Catholic was able to put up 21 points in the fourth quarter, but the Generals had already done so in the second, before adding 14 more in the third and 10 in the fourth.
Senior quarterback T.J. Tutone was able to complete 37 passes and found favorite target Lucas Morley eight times for 70 yards and a score, but was picked off twice.
Though Washington & Lee only passed seven times for 122 yards, they did throw for two scores while amassing 391 yards on the ground and four rushing touchdowns.
In addition to Perno's yardage on the ground, he also caught six balls to total 151 yards of offense for the Cards.
The Cardinals close of the 2015 season on the road next Saturday when they face Bridgewater at 1 p.m.
