Cardinals Wrap Up Three-Game Event with 10-4 Victory

WASHINGTON – On a slow start after four innings of play, the Catholic University of America baseball team manufactured 10 runs over a four-inning stretch to defeat the Eagles of Juniata 10-4.

Marc Hanna allowed the Cardinals pull ahead for the duration in the seventh inning. John Palladino walked to get on base in the seventh, going from first to third on a double by Nick Clary.

Stefan Poggioli tallied four RBIs on three hits for the Cardinals. He doubled in the sixth inning, while notching singles in the fifth and seventh innings.

Sean Van Gieson recorded the win, as he allowed one run on 2.2 innings.  He struck out one, walked none and surrendered one hit.

The Cards break away from Landmark Conference action when they head to Salisbury on Tuesday, April 8 and host Johns Hopkins on Wednesday, April 9.  Both games are slated for 3:30 p.m.
