WASHINGTON – CUA fell to Rowan by a score of 16-11 on Wednesday evening in the Cardinals regular season finale. Lindsay Brophy scored five goals for the Cards, but it was not enough, as Becca Wood countered with nine goals for the Profs to lift them to the win.

Both teams were credited with 29 shots on the night, and both finished with 28 ground balls. Megan Gormley and Theresa Ciletti picked up six ground balls apiece, while Caroline Scalamandre won five draw controls.

Rowan scored the first two goals of the night in a span of 2:30. The Cardinals received two straight scores from Caroline DiBartolomeo to tie things at two, before the Profs went back on top thanks to a goal by Marissa Micciche.

Following another Rowan goal, Madeline Nowakowski brought CUA to within 4-3 when she found the back of the net with 15:07 to play before halftime.

Wood answered for the visitors to put Rowan on top by two, and Vicky Sucharski's goal with 9:29 on the clock made it a three-goal spread.

Brophy's 44th goal of the season pulled CUA to within 6-4, but Sucharski answered immediately to put the Profs back in front by three.

Two more goals by Brophy in a span of 1:07 pulled CUA to within 7-6 with 6:27 to play before intermission, but the Profs netted the final two scores of the half to take a 9-6 advantage into the break.

After Rowan increased its lead to 11-6 early in the 2nd, Brophy pulled CUA to within 11-7 with 21:41 to play.

The Profs answered with a 4-0 run however, to go on top by eight with 11:57 left on the clock.

Erin Fowler's free position goal with exactly 10 minutes remaining made it a 15-8 game, and Brophy's fifth score of the evening cut the lead to six with 6:31 to play.

Ciletti then got into the act and made it a five-goal deficit with 5:19 remaining, but CUA was unable to score again until the final minute.

The Cardinals now move into the postseason, where they will host the semifinals of the Landmark Conference Tournament on Wednesday, May 4. Start time is set for 4 p.m. from inside Cardinal Stadium.

CUA, the five-time defending conference champs, will take on the winner of the Scranton-Drew game, which takes place this weekend at Scranton.
