WASHINGTON – After falling in overtime this past weekend, CUA flipped the script on Monday, downing Babson 15-14 in OT inside rainy Cardinal Stadium. The Cardinals led 13-7 with 19 minutes remaining in regulation, before the Beavers scored six straight goals to force the extra session.

After Babson scored the first goal of OT, CUA netted two straight, including the game-winner from freshman Mary Clare Regan.

CUA led 8-6 at halftime but a Babson goal early in the 2nd brought the Beavers to within one.

The Cardinals quickly regained control, ripping off five straight scores, including three from Regan, one from Lindsay Brophy and one from Erin Fowler to make it 13-7.

Babson refused to go away quietly though, pulling to within 13-8 on Taylor Kralovenec's goal with 15:14 remaining.

The Beavers then made it a four-goal affair with 11:35 on the clock when Misha Beatty scored. Beatty added another goal two minutes later, and CUA's lead was down to three.

Rachel Secrist then scored two straight for Babson, and the Beavers were within 13-12 with 2:05 to play.

Beatty's free position goal with 1:03 remaining tied the score at 13 and overtime began to look like a possibility.

Babson won the ensuing draw control, but quickly turned the ball over. CUA then took over and was awarded a free position shot with eight seconds on the clock. Katie Miller's attempt was saved however, and the teams headed for OT.

In the first three-minute session, Beatty gave the visitors a 14-13 lead when she scored on a free position shot with 2:14 on the clock. The score remained that way after the first three minutes.

40 seconds into the second three-minute session, Brophy scored to tie things at 14.

Soon after, the Beavers were awarded a free position shot, but Yasmeen Ajdari was there for the save to keep the score tied.

Babson got the ball back, but turned it over, giving CUA a chance to go in front. Regan saw to it that the Cards would not lose, ripping a free position attempt into the back of the net with 57 seconds on the clock to put the home team up by one.

CUA then won the ensuing draw control and held on for the win.

CUA finished with a 32-31 advantage in shots, and the Cardinals scooped up 23 ground balls on the day.

Ajdari earned the win in goal for CUA, after she played the overtime sessions, while starter Tricia Pehnke made 13 stops.

Babson scored the game's first goal, but CUA came back with two straight to take the lead.

A goal by Beatty tied things at two, but the Cardinals quickly answered, grabbing a 6-2 lead with four straight scores.

Three straight Beaver goals made it a one-goal game, but Caroline DiBartolomeo made the score 7-5 when she scored for CUA.

The teams then traded goals in the final five minutes to send the game into halftime with CUA leading 8-6.

CUA is back in action on Wednesday afternoon when the Cardinals play host to Trinity. Start time is set for 3:30 p.m.
