WASHINGTON - The 26-man senior class refused to close out at home without a bang, recovering the lead to secure a 38-29 wins over the Quakers of Guilford College Saturday afternoon.

With the win, CUA advances to 5-4 overall and 2-4 in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference, as Guilford drops to 5-4 overall and 4-2 in the conference.

Guilford began chiseling away at the Cardinals lead at the 6:05 mark with a 12-yard run touchdown by Josh Schow for a score of 26-14.  The Quakers closed the margin to five points when GU's Matt Pawlowski found D. Alexander six yards out.  Pawlowski then connected with Nick Mearite for a 13-yard touchdown pass, which provided the Quakers with a 29-26 lead at the 11:19 mark of the fourth quarter.

On a three-yard pass from E.J. Montgomery to standout running back Mike Pitsenberger, the Cards regained the lead.  Montgomery locked in the win with a four-yard for a final score of 38-29.

Catholic's Peter Rosa faced numerous challenges in his attempt to complete the extra, when he was blocked three times in the afternoon. 

The Cards put together a complete offensive effort on Sunday with 314 rushing yards and 194 passing yards for a total 508 yards of offense.

Montgomery led the rushing effort with 129 yards on 18 attempts and a long 21 yards.  Pitsenberger concluded his final home game with 125 yards on 25 attempts and a long 25 yards rushed.  Montgomery also topped the passing category with 21 completions on 31 attempts without a single interception for 180 yards.   Andrew crushed the receiving category with 12 catches for 117 yards and a long 37 yards.

Guilford's Schow led in yards rushed with 94 yards and a long 23.  D. Alexander caught four passes for 39 yards, while Pawlowski went 13-24-0 with 207 yards and a long throw of 61 yards as the Quakers quarterback.

Defensively, the Cards finished with an impressive four sacks with Conor Stueckler and Patrick Nilsen going for a team-high 1.5 sacks apiece.  Stueckler concluded the contest with 6.5 tackles, while R.J. Allison followed with six tackles.  Jeremy Shiner and Mark D'Annibale each assisted on a sack in the afternoon.

CUA concludes the regular season on Saturday, Nov. 16 at Bridgewater (Va.) with a 1 p.m. kickoff.
