Cardinals Compete in Both Bison Classic and Bison Outdoor Invitational

WASHINGTON, D.C. – The men's track and field team traveled to neighboring Gallaudet to compete in the Bison Classic, hosted by both Gallaudet and Howard. A group from the Catholic men's track and field team also traveled up to Bucknell University to compete in the Bison Outdoor Classic in Lewisburg, Pennsylvania.

BISON CLASSIC

Richard Harrington started the day off strong for the Cardinals, placing second in the 10,000m behind a Division I runner. The junior ran 33:55.18, a personal best and program fifth best time.  In third, Patrick Morris ran a personal best 35:24.78. This is the program's ninth best time. Daniel Ponciano finished in fourth with a personal best time of 35:29.27 and  the program's tenth best. 

Three Cardinals competed in the 1500m. David Stango ran 4:20.80. Shane Waring and Joshua Leon finished back to back with 4:26.97 and 4:29.18, respectively. 

Josh Phillips and Gabe Devaney both qualified for the finals of the 110m hurdles. Both Cardinals ran personal bests in the finals. Phillips logged 16.98 and Devaney ran 17.19. 

Devaney also competed in the 400m hurdles. The junior took first place with his time of 57.23. 

Marco Indelicato competed a season best in the 400m. Emmanuel Olarewaju also recorded a season best of 51.34. The pair finished in fourth and sixth out of 23 athletes. 

Indelicato also competed in the 200m and recorded a season best time of 23.24. 

Brady Falcon represented Catholic in the 800m with a time of 2:04.61. Matthew McCormack recorded a personal best of 2:17.82. 

In the 5000m, Matt Haugh ran a personal best 16:48.55. Kamran Jagadesan ran 16:53.98. 

In the high jump, Quinn Brubaker reached 1.85m. 

In the pole vault, a handful of Cardinals competed. Gabe Stypul led the pack with his second place finish and a height of 4.02m. Charles Connolly reached 3.42m. Anthony Escuadro competed with a 3.27m vault. Matt Daley chalked up 2.97m. 

Adrian Villatoro reached 6.11m in the long jump. Brandon Hancock jumped a distance of 5.79m. Nicholas Chang reached 5.31m. 

In the triple jump, Nathan Chaney reached 13.47m. Chang recorded a season best 12.91m. Villatoro logged a distance of 12.49m. 

Mark Enamorado launched a personal best throw of 36.20m in discus. Sean Eiffe also recorded a personal best, 32.90m. Ethan Carmichael recorded a personal best with 30.37m. Caden Lopez, another Cardinal to earn a personal best in the event, logged 29.73m. Warren Gillis threw 28.86m. Benjamin Warr rounded out the discus crew with a personal best of 26.19m. 

In the hammer throw, all three Cardinals earned personal bests. Warr threw 39.56m, Lopez logged 37.31m, and Enamorado threw 37.04m. 

Max Lindung placed second in javelin with a throw of 46.94m. James Varellas recorded a season best in third place with a throw of 39.07m. Lopez logged 36.27m.

In the shot put, Eiffe threw 12.52m as a personal best. Varellas recorded a season best 11.82m. Gillis logged 10.64m. Warr threw a distance of 10.10m. Carmichael chalked up a throw of 9.66m.

BISON OUTDOOR INVITATIONAL

In the 800m, Peter Winter placed 18th out of 155 athletes with his personal best time of 1:52.71. Winter already held the program's sixth best time and he remains in that slot with the new time. Kendrick DuPree recorded a time of 1:58.16. Augustine Howard ran 1:58.24 in the event. 

In the 10k, Joseph Locke ran 32:44.54. 

Up next, a handful of Cardinals will compete in the second day of the Bison Outdoor Classic on Sunday, April 12th in Lewisburg, Pennsylvania.
