Chaney and Phillips Topple Previous Bests to Move Up Program Record Books at Father Diamond

FAIRFAX, Va. – The Catholic men's track and field team competed in the Father Diamond Invitational hosted by George Mason.

The Cardinals had three competitors in the mile: Tim Brown, Shane Waring, and Matt Haugh. Brown logged a time of 4:42.32. Waring posted a personal best with 4:43.92. Haugh also earned a personal best with his time of. 

In the 60 meter hurdles, Drew Madden finished as the first Division III runner with his time of 8.87. Nathan Chaney earned a personal best time of 8.89. Chaney moves up the record books from sixth to fifth with his new time. Josh Phillips also competed a personal best with his time of 9.33. Philips remains as the ninth best in program history with this updated time. Gabe Devaney rounded out the group with 9.42.

Mark Indelicato raced 53.29 in the 400 meter. Devaney was close behind with a time of 54.27. Phillips ran a personal best in the event with 56.44.

In the 800 meter race, Kendrick Dupree posted a time of 1:58.06. Peter Winter raced 1:58.56 while Augustine Howard ran 1:59.24, a personal best. 

Matthew McCormack was the lone Cardinal in the 1000 meter with his time of 3:00.29.

Colin Matthews ran a season best time of 24.41 in the 200 meter race. 

Patrick Morris finished third in the 3000 meter with his new personal best time of 9:28.46. In fourth, Daniel Ponciano also logged a personal best with his time of 9:30.23.

Quinn Brubaker reached 5.62 meters in the long jump and Nick Chang reached 5.10 meters. Chang also reached 12.12 meters in the triple jump. 

In the pole vault, Anthony Escuadro reached 3.40 meters. 

Drew Madden placed first in the high jump, reaching 1.90 meters. Quinn Brubaker jumped 1.80 meters. 

In the shot put, four Cardinals competed. Warren Gillis led the group with 11.58 meters. Ethan Carmichael and Benjamin Warr threw 10.35 meters and 10.01 meters, respectively. Mark Enamorado reached 9.68 meters.

Warr threw 12.69 meters, a personal best distance that places him seventh in the record books in the weight throw. Enamorado reached 12.41 meters in the event, a season best. 

This meet was the last tune up before the Cardinals compete at the Landmark Conference Indoor Track & Field next weekend. The meet will take place on Saturday, February 28th on the campus of Susquehanna University. The meet is slated to start at 11 a.m..
