LANDOVER, Md. - Catholic women's indoor track & field took home second place for the second consecutive season, finishing behind Moravian on Saturday at the Landmark Conference Indoor Championships.
The Cardinals totaled 117 points, besting Scranton by 10.5 points and finishing 28 behind Moravian who claimed a 13th indoor crown.
Catholic won three gold medals wth
Emily Moehringer bringing home an individual championship in the mile while the Cardinals took home the 4x200 and 4x400 relays.
Laurel McMahon and
Ciara Donegan took home silver medals in individual events while
Clare Marsh, Moehringer,
Kate Inglis, and
Georgia Nussey all took home bronze medals.
Moehringer set the championship meet record in the mile, running a time of 4:58.52 to outlast Elizabethtown's Kelty Oaster. Moehringer finished third in the 800, arguably the most competitive event of the championship, clocking a time of 2:18.76.
Alexa Grassi finished fourth behind her with a time of 2:22.68, a personal best.
The 4x400 relay made it two championship records on the day with a time of 4:02.19, beating Scranton by just over 1.5 seconds. The group of
Brigid Byrnes,
Mia McConnell, Grassi, and Marsh combined for the gold.
Kortney Clipper,
Sarah Schumacher,
Megan Burns, and
Felicity Giampietro won gold in the 4x200 with a time of 1:46.90, winning by more than 2.5 seconds and setting a new program record in the process.
Donegan grabbed a silver medal in the shot put as she set a new personal best with a 12.43-meter throw, number two all-time in Catholic history. McMahon grabbed second in the 5,000, clocking a time of 19:04.62, just edging out Nussey who finished in 19:05.77.
Marsh set a new program record in the 400, finishing third with a time of 58.69. Byrnes finished fourth with a time of 59.00, second all-time and also a PR.
Inglis added another Landmark medal to her career tally with a third-place finish in the 3,000 with a time of 10:30.02.
