Cardinals Shine at Patriot Games

FAIRFAX, Va. - Starting on Friday night and carrying through the entirety of Saturday, Catholic women's indoor set personal bests and broke records left and right. 

On Friday evening competing in the 5,000, Kate Inglis broke her own program record, finishing seventh with a time of 17:53.44, good for 43rd nationally thus far. Her previous record was set last year at this event as she clocked a time of 17:53.49. Competing in the same event. Georgia Nussey improved on her personal best time to remain in fourth on the Catholic all-time list. She finished 11th with a time of 18:28.45, improving by almost 15 full seconds. 

On Saturday, Emily Moehringer was one of many standouts, moving into third all-time on the indoor mile list as she finished second with a time of 5:02.74. She remains behind only 2024 graduates Lauren Cerda and Apolline Gaspers on the Catholic all-time list. Her time is the sixth-fastest in Landmark history and she sits in 24th nationally. Also competing in the 500, Moehringer finished second in the event with a time of 1:18.27, the second-fastest time in program history and a five-second improvement from her previous fastest time. 

Beating Moehringer in the 500 to improve on her program record mark was Brigid Byrnes who just eked past the upperclassman with a time of 1:18.21, more than two seconds faster than the time she ran at George Mason a year ago. Byrnes also set a new Landmark Conference record in the event. 

Freshman Catherine Egan had a standout day, moving into second on the all-time list in the 60-meter dash and the 200. Egan raced to a tie with program record holder Erin Buckley with a time of 7.09 in the prelims to jump up to second on the all-time list before finishing seventh in the 200 with a time of 26.62 to jump up to second on that list as well. Also running the 200, Megan Burns placed 13th and moved into a tie for the ninth-fastest on the all-time list with a time of 27.26. 

In the 400, Clare Marsh (59.83) and Zoey Brown (1:01.58) ran strong times to place sixth and ninth respectively. 

Madi Fuerst and Ciara Donegan led the Cardinals in the field with Fuerst breaking her own program record in the pole vault once again. After setting a new mark of 3.35 at the Cardinal Classic, Fuerst placed seventh with a 3.43-meter vault. putting her in the top 50 nationally. Donegan finished third in the shot put with a 12.00-meter toss and sixth in the weight throw with a 13.49-meter throw, a new personal best. 

Alicia Vo totaled 2,621 points in the pentathlon, the 48th-best mark in Division III so far as she set personal bests in the 800 and the long jump.
