Box Score BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Catholic softball fell to Susquehanna in extra innings on Saturday, losing 4-1 in nine innings to end the Cardinals' run at the Landmark Championships.
Just as in the first game of the day, Catholic plated a run in the first inning, but ultimately couldn't string together any more runs in a nine-inning loss on Saturday afternoon.
Alex Garza had three hits for Catholic while Olivia Stinchcomb picked up a pair of singles in the loss. Aubrynn Arcement allowed just one run across 5.2 innings in the contest.
After Garza opened the game with an infield single, Sarah Spaeth drove her in with a triple to right center, putting Catholic ahead 1-0 in the first inning. The Cardinals led for the first five innings before the River Hawks tied it in the top of the sixth.
Lexi Palumbo drove a two-out double to the gap in right before Ashley Warner singled up the middle to score pinch-runner Kassidy Smith to tie the game at 1-1.
Katie Hurd pitched in relief, tossing 2.1 scoreless innings before the River Hawks broke through in the ninth. Susquehanna scored on a single and a pair of fielder's choices to jump ahead 4-1. Catholic totaled two hits in the ninth, but Catholic couldn't push one across against Brianna Jones.
Susquehanna will face Moravian tomorrow in the Landmark Conference Championship Series.
