BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Catholic softball fell to top-seeded Moravian on Saturday morning at Blue & Gray Field, sending the Cardinals into an elimination game later this afternoon against the winner of Susquehanna and Scranton. 

The Cardinals scored in the opening frame against Moravian's ace Madi Cunningham, but Cunningham settled in and held the Cardinals to just four hits and one run in the contest. Cunningham struck out four and issued two walks in the contest. 

Her counterpart in the circle, Katie Hurd, was strong once again for Catholic, allowing four hits and two earned runs in a complete-game effort. 

The Cardinals got a spark with two outs in the first as Amanda Gomez laced a double to right-center. Sarah Spaeth drew a walk to put a pair of runners on for Sophia Fike who singled to left, scoring Gomez to put the Cardinals ahead 1-0. 

Moravian had an answer in the bottom of the second, plating a pair of runs to take a lead they would not give back. Marcie Silberman singled through the left side before Sage Snyder reached on an error. With one out, Sarah DeStefano doubled to left center, scoring both runners to give the Greyhounds a 2-1 lead. 

The Greyhounds pushed their final run across in the bottom of the third inning. Holly Walter reached on an infield single to start the frame. With two away and Walter on second, Silberman singled to put runners on the corners. Walter proceeded to swipe home for the final run of the contest. 

Spaeth and Hailee Weiss each singled to round out Catholic's four hits for the contest. 

Catholic versus Susquehanna/Scranton is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. this afternoon.
