HILTON HEAD, S.C. — The Catholic University women's tennis team played their first match of their spring break trip on Monday afternoon, falling to Brevard 8-1.
Bridget McCabe picked up the sole victory for the Cardinals, triumphing in straight sets at the No. 6 singles position, 6-0, 6-1.
Abbey Cassidy and Jane Krukiel fought hard on both the singles and doubles courts.
Cassidy fell in a tight contest at the top singles position, dropping the opening set 5-7 before falling by a break in the second. Krukiel dropped her match at No. 2 singles 1-6, 3-6 and the pair combined at No. 1 doubles, succumbing 5-8.
Marissa Stambaugh, Aubree Narus and Paige Brightwell also featured in competitive action for the Cardinals.
Nate Farlow's squad will now ready for a match against Lancaster Bible on Wednesday. The teams will meet at the Chaplin Park Tennis Center in Hilton Head, S.C., and is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m.
