TOWSON, Md. - Carmen Valentino of the Catholic women's tennis team was named Landmark Conference Athlete of the Week, it was announced today. She is the first member of the squad to earn the honor this season.

This is the first honor of Valentino's career. The Freshman from Sante Fe, New Mexico went undefeated on the week, winning two doubles matches and three singles matches.

In doubles, Valentino partnered up with Annie Nemoy against St. Mary's and Elizabethtown. The two paired up in the one spot, and pulled out 6-0 victories in both matches.

Valentino battled against St. Mary's Katherine Yao in the two spot on Saturday morning. In the afternoon, Valentino then matched up against Anouk Bluemm of Batten, winning 6-1, 6-2. On Sunday, Valentino earned a shutout victory against Katie Balzano, winning 6-0, 6-0.

Valentino made her collegiate debut on September 13 against Frostburg State where she secured her first collegiate victory in doubles alongside Nemoy.
