HILTON HEAD, S.C. — The Catholic University men's tennis team opened up their 2023 spring break trip with a sweep of Brevard on Monday afternoon.

On a day filled with a number of great performances, Nathaniel Barish picked up his first collegiate win. The freshman dispatched his opponent in straight sets (6-3, 6-2) at No. 5 singles.

Allan Van Nostrand and James Earwood got out to a quick start and never looked back at the top doubles position, triumphing 8-2.

Earwood, Diego Romo and Matt Rudolf showed some great resolve on the day to keep the Cardinal sweep intact.

Earwood came through on the right side of a tight match to come away with a win at the top singles position. He took the first set by a single mini-break in the tiebreak before sealing the match in the second set (7-6(6), 6-3).

Romo and Rudolf overcame a slow start at No. 2 doubles, coming back to win 8-7(2) in a tiebreak. Romo then needed a tiebreak to close out his match at No. 2 singles, coming out on top 7-5, 7-6(5). Rudolf took his match at No. 3 singles in straight sets, 7-5, 6-1.

Henry Ogden (6-1, 6-2) and Leyton Ramos-Platt (6-1, 6-3) came away with comfortable victories at No. 4 singles and No. 6 singles, respectively. The duo combined to win 8-3 at No. 3 singles as well.

Nate Farlow's men will look to carry the momentum into their next match against Lancaster Bible on Wednesday. The teams will meet at Chaplin Park Tennis Center at 1 p.m.
