ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. - Catholic women's tennis had four players go undefeated on the day in a 6-3 victory at Elizabethtown on Sunday afternoon.
The Cardinals took a 2-1 lead after doubles with the No. 1 and No. 2 doubles groups looking strong. At No. 1 doubles, Brooke Simonson and Abbey Cassidy took an early lead and never looked back in an 8-3 victory while it was more of the same at No. 2 doubles with Jane Krukiel and Marissa Stambaugh combining for an 8-2 win.
That group of four for Nate Farlow's bunch each earned a singles victory in the 6-3 win. Simonson was dominant at No. 1 singles, winning 6-1, 6-1. Krukiel was the next to finish, winning 6-2, 6-1 to put Catholic up 4-1. Cassidy needed a first-set tiebreaker before winning 7-6 but won the second set 6-3 to make it 5-1 Catholic. At No. 5 singles, Stambaugh earned a 6-4, 6-4 victory for the final Catholic point.
Catholic travels to Frostburg State on Wednesday afternoon for a non-conference matchup.
