Box Score SELINSGROVE, Pa. — The Catholic University women's basketball team rode a strong performance from Keegan Douglas to a victory over Susquehanna on Saturday afternoon.
The sophomore transfer led the way for the Cardinals, scoring a new career high 21 points. Douglas willed Catholic to a brilliant start, using just eight-and-a-half first-quarter minutes to score 14 of out Catholic's first 16 points.
After emerging from the opening stanza with a 21-14 lead, Catholic ratched up the defense to grab control of the game. Matt Donohue's squad held the River Hawks to just five points in the second quarter and opened up a 17-point halftime lead.
It was more of the same in the third quarter as the Cardinals put the game to bed, outscoring Suquehanna 21-6.
Freshman Anna Scoblick also produced a great game for Catholic, grabbing nine rebounds and scoring six points on 2-of-2 shooting. Erin Doherty pitched in with seven points and two steals while Douglas added to her career-high performance with three rebounds, two steals and one assist.
The Cardinals were able to get out and run and saw success when they did so, outscoring Susquehanna 19-2 on the fast break. Catholic took advantage of its depth, as 16 players featured in the contest with nine playing 10 minutes or more.
Catholic moves to 17-6 on the season and 8-4 in Landmark Conference play with the victory. With two games remaining in the regular season, Catholic sits one game behind Elizabethtown in the race for a home conference semifinal game.
The Cardinals will close out the regular season with two home games. They will host Juniata at 7 p.m. on Wednesday evening before their regular season-finale against Drew on Saturday. Senior Day programming with precede the tip of the game against the Rangers, which is slated for 2 p.m.
